Aneurysms

Aneurysm is an abnormal dilatation of blood vessel. Dr. Hemant Chaudhari Endovascular Surgeon in pune, Most often it is asymptomatic and detected incidentally on sonography done for other reason. Most commonly it affects Aorta (major blood vessel in abdomen which supplies blood to both lower limbs) & sometimes thigh and leg arteries. When it reaches to critical size, there is a risk of rupture (bleeding) and ultimately risk to the patient life causing emergency situation. That’s the reason why it should be treated as early as possible.

Vascular surgeons are expertise in managing aneurysm by 2 modalities.
1) Endovascular Aneurysm repair (EVAR) – This is a minimally invasive procedure in which by just a needle size puncture stent-graft ( jacketed metal pipe) is deployed in aneurysm segment so as to avoid further increase in aneurysm size and risk of rupture.
2) Open Aneurysm repair- In this Vascular surgeon takes cut over abdomen/ aneurysm site and replace dilated artery with artificial graft (pipe)

Acute Mesenteric ischemia

It is also known as intestine attack. When blood flow to heart gets blocked suddenly, patient develops heart attack and his life is at risk. Similarly when blood flow to intestine gets blocked suddenly, patient develops intestine attack and risk to one’s life
